Coconut Malorie Resort earns RCI Silver Crown Award

Resort reaps reward for $4 million renovation

Newport News , Va., Nov. 10, 2005—The Coconut Malorie Resort, in Ocean City, Md., has earned Silver Crown recognition from members of Resort Condominiums International LLC. In announcing the award, Steve Kosmas, president of Kosmas Group International, praised general manager Kebba Wadda and his team for their exceptional efforts. “Under the guidance and leadership of Jeremy Grogg, director of operations for Goodmanagement Inc., the staff has surpassed our first year expectations. We have a wonderful management team and talented on-site employees who work well together,” Kosmas says.

“Our outstanding comment card scores reflect the resort staff’s hard work,” Kosmas says. “They’ve made improvements in every detail that creates a memorable experience for owners and exchange guests.”

Improvements to the five-story, bay-front resort included a comprehensive renovation in 2004. “The developer, along with the owners association, approved a complete refurbishment, and they are delighted with the results,” says Dale Goodman, president of Goodmanagement Inc., the resort’s management company. “Now it’s apparent that RCI exchange guests are, too.”

Built in the early 1980s, the Coconut Malorie was a luxury hotel that Kosmas Group purchased and converted to a mixed-use property reintroducing luxury timeshare to Ocean City, where Kosmas first began his timeshare career in 1975. Although Kosmas Group sold the resort in 1999 to concentrate on properties developed in Florida, Steve Kosmas repurchased the Coconut Malorie in 2004. “Much of our first year of operation has been focused on renovating the resort and raising standards to meet owner and guest expectations,” Kosmas says. “The Coconut Malorie’s reputation for excellence is well known within the local community. We wanted to make certain we did everything necessary to preserve its fine reputation. I am so proud and honored to be a part to the Coconut Malorie again. Ocean City is a premier resort destination, and I enjoy very much being a part of this community”.

The RCI Silver Crown award is awarded through the RCI Resort Recognition program, which recognizes resort affiliates that consistently provide superior vacation experiences for their owners and guests. RCI members, who evaluate their vacation experiences after they travel, determine the awards. Members rate the resort facilities and services in five categories: unit quality, hospitality, housekeeping, maintenance and check-in/check-out.
